Asia is one of my favorite continents because you will find great adventures in very cheap countries. Asia is quite fun whether you are traveling with friends or on your own. This is a list of countries that I have prepared with a tight budget but it will be enough to live a great experience

They are excellent options for those who want to travel on a reduced budget and who want to see the world. These costs were determined with the BackPacker Index and other tools for a basic budget per day that includes payment for transportation in the country, 3 meals, and a tourist attraction.

  • Vietnam: $18.60
  • Laos: $19
  • Nepal: $20.31
  • Thailand: $30.00
  • Philippines $22.00

Each country is unique. There are no favorites on the list and I can certainly tell you that they are some of the most fun and culturally rich places in the world. It is worth saving to visit them and live one of the best experiences of your life to get to know another culture on the other side of the world.

How much time do I need to travel to Asia?

At ViajeroPeligro we learned that the most valuable and important thing on a trip is time. Here are our recommendations:

  • 1 week: 1 country -it’s just enough time to get to know it and not waste time traveling to other places-
  • 2 weeks: 3 countries will be enough.
  • Pack light and for the weather
  • Before buying your ticket check the most popular festivals in each country
  • Plan ahead, distances are huge in some countries.

What is the best route or country to visit Asia?

If it is your first time, we recommend traveling to where you are passionate about. If you’re looking for something a little more choice, you have over 49 countries you can travel to. Our recommendations for your first trip are:

  • Thailand-Laos-Cambodia: one of the cheapest on the entire continent.
  • Japan-China-Hong Kong-Macau: Despite being the same country, each one is different from the other.
  • Thailand-Malaysia: An interesting cultural contrast
  • India: It is so big that you should consider it a single trip. Read more in the article we prepared for you

One of the first cultural blows is to adapt to the large number of people who live in those countries. It is estimated that more than 61% of the world lives in Asia distributed in 49 countries.

How to handle money in Asia?

Asia is an accessible destination in most of its countries. Southeast Asia is usually cheaper

  • Use cash. Some cards don’t work
  • Make withdrawals directly from the airport. Avoid exchange houses.
  • Familiarize yourself with the coin.
  • Don’t take all the money with you. Leave a card at the hotel/hostel in case of emergencies
  • Download an APP to convert currencies and know how much you spend. Our favorite is: OANDA
  • He was taking a cough check. We recommend the app: TRICOUNT
  • Take two debit cards in case of a robbery you have the other

Language will not be a problem in Asia

Avoid worrying about the language. In the main cities and tourist sectors people speak English. Although when you go to the slightly more remote places you will find it a bit difficult to communicate, however the people are friendly and always willing to help.

  • In the main cities you will find places that speak English
  • However, be prepared to communicate in as many ways as possible.
  • Keep a list of the basic words
  • In general they are safe countries where the tourist is well received. However, there are some countries where it is better to travel in a group
  • Always have your hotel address printed in the local language

Vaccines for Asia

Many people think that they are going to the end of the world and that it is not civilized. Although it is true that in some countries the hospitals are very bad, in general there are good health services.

  • Before traveling, consult your doctor for the vaccinations you must have. They usually include: yellow fever, polio, tetanus, hepatitis A, typhoid.
  • If you go to hot areas (jungle) consider medicines for malaria
  • Are you medicated? Take extra recipes, you never know when you might need them.
  • Health insurance will help you a lot. I tell you more about insurance in this note.
  • Don’t drink tap water
  • Carry a small personal first aid kit.

Security tips for Asia

They always ask me if it is a safe destination and the answer is the same “it is safer than the United States”. However, you should always take precautions:

  • Scams are common. If someone tries to help you, pretends to be a policeman or tells you about a jewelry offer… don’t trust!
  • Before entering a show or bar make sure to read the menu, in some places they may charge you extra.
  • Use safe taxis from any APP. Before getting into a taxi, ask if it has a “meter” (taximeter) or agree on the price.
  • Travel with comfortable, long-sleeved clothing for the heat.
  • Avoid making comments or posing on religious sites
  • use your common sense
  • Avoid wearing t-shirts printed about religion or politics
  • Do not take your passport or all your money with you
  • Back up your documents in the cloud, your email account and send them to your relatives.

Now that you know that, it’s time to get out there, discover the world and share this knowledge with others. Asia is one of the cheapest destinations to travel and should be on your list of places to visit
