1. Imperial Palace

The Tokyo National Museum houses just over 100,000 works of art from Japan, China and India, 100 of which are considered national treasures. Among its pieces are some Buddhist sculptures from the 6th century to the present day.

You’ll also see collections of ancient fabrics and historical Japanese clothing, vintage weapons and military equipment, ceramics, and pottery.

The museum, opened in 1938, has Japanese paintings and Chinese artworks several hundred years old.

7. National Museum of Western Art

One of the tourist spots in Tokyo is in Ueno Park, just a 3-minute walk from Ueno Station. It is the Museum of Western Art, Kokuritsu SEIYO Bijutsukan, built in 1959 by the Swiss architect, Le Corbusier.

The exhibits on display are mostly works by French artists owned by art collector Matsukata and Japanese businessman Kojiro.

8. Santuario Meiji
