An exclusive work for the Disneyland Paris park
“The Forest of Enchantment: a Disney musical adventure” is the new show presented by Disneyland Paris , a unique show that can only be enjoyed in the magical Disney park from today until May 8 at the Chaparral Theater in Frontierland. A connection between an enchanted forest and the most beloved Disney characters that will not leave anyone indifferent .
An unforgettable show -for both young and old- in which spectators will enter an enchanted forest accompanied by their favorite Disney characters, such as Phocahontas and John Smith, Baloo and King Louie, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, Tarzan and Princess Merida.
The soundtracks of always, with which we have grown and enjoyed, represented by 19 artists who sing live and who have been preparing with great effort and guided by Gordon Goodwin, American composer and musician who has directed the soundtracksfrom well-known films such as Armageddon, Con Air, or The Incredibles.
The musical universe was developed by Vasile Sirili, musical director of Disneyland Paris since 1990, who has dedicated his whole life to music, and with this work they have tried, once again, to “reach the heart” of the spectators. The two composers acknowledge that the path “has not been easy”, nor has the choice of singers, since it was not only necessary to “have a good voice”, but also “know how to express” through body movements, and the person , «the feelings that have been conveyed in the work».
A total of 296 people participated in the auditions that took place in Paris and London to choose the acrobats, dancers and singers for the show. Also, the soundtrack to The Forest of Enchantment: A Disney musical adventure.
The director of the show, Christophe Leclercq, who joined the Disneyland Paris team in 1989 and participated in the opening of the Park in 1992. With this work he sought to design a special environment, as well as new, in which the spectators plunge into the heart of an enchanted forest as a meeting point for imagination and fun that the show evokes. “We have tried to find a strong connection between nature and the forest” , and considers that the choice of the Chaparral stage, which has capacity for 1,200 people, “is not insignificant” and is “the perfect place” for the performance of the play.
The story is set in an enchanted forest in which allegories to nature are represented around Disney characters. Choreographies and acrobatics performed by animals or plants that live in the forest and have been supervised by Caroline Roeland, Yohann Benhamou and Florence Delahaye, artists who have previously participated in shows at the Cirque du Soleil, the San Remo casino, Grease.
The costumes for the show have been made by 40 tailors who have worked in the Costuming department of Disneyland Paris for two months to create more than 50 nature-inspired costumes. The clothing has tried to convey the spirit of nature within the Disney world, for which it was necessary to combine fabrics and colors with the aim of conveying what the dancers, singers and acrobats would then represent.
Its decoration constitutes one of the biggest surprises from the beginning of the work, since the show changes according to the story that is represented. The stage has been designed in part by Matthew Reinhart, who wrote the book “Dinsey Princess: A Magical Pop-Up World”, which tells the story of 11 Disney princesses, some of whom appear casually in the show.
An innovative show that makes its spectators delve even deeper into the magical world of the Park, and that is capable of creating unforgettable sensations and illusions.
