On September 21, spring begins in the countries of the southern hemisphere, the half of the planet located south of the line of Ecuador. While in the northern hemisphere we are preparing to see the hours of sunshine diminish and the arrival of the cold and the rains, in the countries of the south temperatures rise, the fields bloom and the sun is gaining ground. It is time for a getaway to the most suggestive destinations completely bathed in the southern spring.
Antarctica
It is the only continent located entirely within the southern hemisphere. Surrounded by the Antarctic Ocean, the best time to travel is during the southern summer, between the months of December and March, but in October the temperatures begin to rise and the white giant wakes up from the long winter nights.
South Africa
Safaris and adventures in the great wildlife reserves, visiting large cities such as Cape Town and Johannesburg and living the experience of seeing the union of two oceans at the Cape of Good Hope. The southernmost country on the African continent offers a range of proposals that is difficult to beat.
New Zealand
The country that has served as the setting for the film productions of the hobbits, dwarves and elves of “The Lord of the Rings” is almost on its way to changing its name to Middle-earth. Its landscapes captivate all visitors, from its rugged mountains to its limpid fjords. The only downside: the flights are very long to be in the antipodes of Spain.
Argentina
From Patagonia to the Iguazú Falls, always passing through the frenetic and intense Buenos Aires, the sister country is still one of the great American treasures to discover. In the southern spring and summer it is full of vitality and events in all its provinces.
Chili
The explosion of nature provided by places such as the Torres del Paine National Park or the unique Atacama desert already justify a getaway to the Andean country. Is not sufficient? Well, it also has six thousand kilometers of coastline and its own unique places in the world such as ValparaÃso, the Patagonian region and Easter Island.
Peru
The region around the Inca city of Machu Picchu, the cities of Cuzco and Lima and the Amazon cruises are some of the great attractions of the South American country. In the Andean places, those people who are sensitive to altitude sickness should exercise extreme caution. In recent years, its gastronomy has gained weight and world fame.
Mauricio
Any time of the year is good to enjoy Mauritius, but from September to December are the best months, especially for diving. Its beaches and luxury hotels are always in the spotlight of honeymoon plans.
Tanzania
Safari destination par excellence in East Africa, its endless plains are home to the big five of African wildlife: lions, leopards, buffalo, elephants and rhinos. The most active can bet on an excursion to Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa (5,895 meters).
Zambia and Zimbabwe
Navigating the Zambezi River to Victoria Falls, following in the footsteps of explorer David Livingstone, is a unique travel experience on the border between these two countries. Uruguay
The small country located between Argentina and Brazil is another of the jewels of South America and one of the most effervescent destinations on the American continent. Cook Islands
Recognized by Lonely Planet as the best destination to visit in the world in 2022, the Cook Islands archipelago is in the most remote place on Earth, New Zealand Polynesia, halfway between New Zealand and Hawaii. Made up of fifteen islands, Rarotonga, the main one, and Aitutaki, whose lagoon is recognized as one of the most beautiful in the world, stand out.
French Polynesia
More than one hundred islands in the South Seas where you can choose the most suggestive and paradisiacal destination among the archipelagos of Gambier, Marquesas, La Sociedad or Tuamotu. Bora Bora and Tahiti are its best-known and most cinematographic islands. From November the rainy season begins, warning for lovers who are planning to enjoy their honeymoon there.
Seychelles
