Land owners in Scotland have always been known as Lairds. A laird is something like a Lord or a Lady in its female equivalent, more recognized titles in the universal imagination. First clarification, solved. Now we come to the main question. Do we want to hold that distinction regardless of our country of origin and provenance? If the answer is yes, we are in luck. For only €36 we can enjoy such a privilege and also boast of having a piece of land in what is one of the greenest countries in the world. Created in 2006, Highland Titlesis a company that owns and manages two magnificent nature reserves that maintain all their splendor thanks to thousands of supporters scattered around the planet who have only had to buy very small plots, as if they were souvenirs, to contribute to their conservation.
The new Lords or Ladys receive a personalized mailing at home with the documentation of their new status. The title is official, can be used and taxes are not paid.

Impressive landscapes
The person who wants to become Lord or Lady only has to apply through the website ( www.highlandtitles.es ) and decide the size of the piece of land they want to buy. It can be from just under a square meter, the cheapest, to just over 90, the most expensive (€600). In between there is a whole catalog of dimensions and prices. The cheapest are just south of Duror, in the Highland district of Appin, about three miles from historic Glencoe, which boasts some stunning scenery. The scene of movies like Skyfall , by James Bond, and some scenes from the Harry Potter saga,is the perfect hub for exploring the Lochaber area, known as the UK’s outdoor capital. The largest plots are located in the Mountain View Nature Reserve, very close to Invergarry. As this is a wild land that is difficult to access, anyone who opts for this option receives another piece of land in the Glencoe forest as a gift.
Glencoe is one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland.
A commitment to sustainable tourism
The money obtained with these mini purchases goes entirely to the maintenance of each one of the areas and to the financing of the planting of trees. Once the acquisition is made, the owners will receive the exact coordinates of their plots, so that they can see them from afar, through the web, or, better yet, so that they can go and see them whenever they want. After their registration, the new owners receive a personalized pack at home that contains a card and documentation with their new status: Laird, Lord or Lady of Glencoe. It is not a joke! The title is official and can be used.
The title gives the right to a series of privileges and can be inherited. You just have to take care of possession and you can not build anything in them that is not biodegradable.

Privileges of nobility
The accreditation gives you access to a series of privileges (discounts in shops, restaurants and hotels, merchandising products …) if we decide to visit the place. We will not be the only ones. Every year massive meetings are held. Having one of these plots, which can be inherited, does not force you to pay any kind of taxes, but you have to commit to taking care of them. You can’t build anything on them that isn’t biodegradable. Although, of course, you can put (and then remove) a flag or something similar to take the required photo. The project started in 2006 and there are already more than 250,000 owners.
