Known for its remote location, incredible landscapes, and surreal fjords, it boasts great historic cities, magnificent cathedrals, a progressive population, and endless ways to stay active in the great outdoors.

Oslo to the capital

Its innovative food scene, its modern and vibrant neighborhoods, plenty of plans and events throughout the year and new museums and tourist attractions are just a preview of everything that awaits you in Oslo. As the city is surrounded by the Oslo Fjord and dense forests, here you can combine a city break with outdoor fun by biking, skiing or visiting some of the islands in the same day.

In the nearby areas of Østfold and Vestfold you will find an endless number of charming coastal towns, such as Fredrikstad or Tønsberg. And about an hour from Oslo by car is Hadeland, a new artistic destination where you can visit the Kistefos Museum and the spectacular exhibition hall

Tromsø and the kingdom of the northern lights

Known as the capital of the Arctic, Tromsø is located in the heart of Northern Norway. If your to-do list includes seeing the Northern Lights, the midnight sun, whale watching, or great adventures in nature, you should definitely come here. Enjoy perfect conditions for ski touring in the Lyngenfjord area, discover Sami culture in places like Karasjok or Alta, and reach the remote North Cape at the northern tip of Europe.

The fjord of Geiranger

The Seven Sisters Waterfall and many others pour down steep mountain slopes into the brilliant blue waters of the Geirangerfjord (or Geirangerfjord). This fjord, the most famous in all of Norway, is protected by Unesco as a World Heritage Site

A road that will make you want to drive

Surrounded by impressive peaks and a stone’s throw from famous tourist attractions such as the Trollstigen mountain road or the Atlantic road, Ã…ndalsnes is the last station of the Rauma train, another of the most beautiful train journeys in the world.

Trondheim and Trøndelag

The Trøndelag region, in the heart of Norway, attracts both history buffs, inveterate foodies and lovers of outdoor activities. Here you can go fishing, cycling, skiing or hiking on one of the nine Saint Olav Pilgrimage Paths, which lead to the spectacular Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim.

Lofoten and Nordland

Impressive peaks, shimmering fjords, authentic fishing villages and postcard beaches, not to mention the northern lights and the midnight sun! Surely you have already seen impressive photos of the Lofoten Islands and the VesterÃ¥len archipelago on Instagram. It is a good idea to visit these places out of high season, that is, after the summer, to avoid meeting many other tourists. Great outdoor adventures await you in Narvik, a hiking and skiing paradise. A lesser known gem is Helgeland, a little further south.

Valleys and mountains of Eastern Norway

In this area you will find some of the main ski resorts in the country, such as Geilo, Trysil or Hemsedal.

Valdres, Hallingdal, Lillehammer and the Gudbrandsdalen Valley are great family destinations, and have all the necessary ingredients, from amusement parks to charming farmhouses and fantastic hiking trails.

Norway is one of the happiest countries in the world for the opportunities it provides its citizens, the welfare state combined with the ability to live a full life. If you are thinking of traveling to a new place, I can definitely recommend this country.

Now that you know that, it’s time to get out there, discover the world and share this knowledge with others.
